Adelina Woods

Adelina Woods was created in 2004, thanks to the vision and generosity of landowner Enid Gautier. As well as creating a lasting memorial to her mother, Adelina, and promoting local tree planting, she wanted to create a communal picnic area, full of birds and bees, for everyone to enjoy and especially for children to play in and explore.

Since then, we’ve added to the Adelina tree count and there are now over a hundred young trees thriving. Most of these are native species, including apple, ash, birch, hawthorn, oak and sweet chestnut. There’s also a smattering of more exotic specimens, such as a sweet gum (Liquidambar styraciflua) and a handkerchief tree (Davidia involucrata), for the many visiting nature lovers and families.

A big thank you to Adelina’s sponsors, Accuro, for funding the upkeep of these woods for the benefit of the community. We’re looking forward to seeing it develop and become even more beautiful overthe coming years.

Visit Adelina Woods

From St Helier, head north up La Grande Route de St Jean and turn right immediately after the turning into Rue des Côtils, just before Motor Mall. If you’re heading south, turn left just after Motor Mall.

Adelina Wood is signposted from the south but please be aware that the current signage is quite small and the turning is narrow.

What we've achieved together

Since our foundation as Men of the Trees in 1937, we’ve evolved to become an important part of the community, planting and protecting thousands of trees while helping people to understand and appreciate their importance to our existence.
