Trees can't speak for themselves but we can.

Jersey has tree protection laws — but these laws only work when people know about them and use them. We campaign for stronger protections, help residents understand their rights and provide guidance on how to list at-risk trees before it's too late.

Representing our trees in the face of development

Development projects pose one of the greatest threats to Jersey’s trees. Changes in home ownership often lead to re-landscaping of private gardens and wooded areas, while larger construction projects on fields and gardens result in major habitat and tree loss.

Protecting our trees from biological threats

Protecting trees from invasive species, pests and diseases is critical for Jersey, given its limited area and sensitive ecosystems. Invasive species can rapidly disrupt ecological balance, leading to significant biodiversity loss.

Identifying and protecting Jersey's most valuable trees

By recognising trees of exceptional ecological, historical, or emotional significance, we can work to safeguard them from threats such as development, disease and neglect. Doing so secures their many benefits while preserving our rich local biodiversity, cultural heritage and environmental resilience.
