Run for the Trees on 20 September

Jersey Trees for Life is encouraging active and aspiring athletes to Run for the Trees as part of its third annual fundraising run that will take place at Val de la Mare on the morning of Sunday 20 September.

Participants have three available choices: 12 km, 6 km or 3km. The first two options entail one(6 km) or two (12 km) full loops of the reservoir. passing through all the arboretum’s tree collections, starting and finishing in the top car park.

Those doing a longer run will be able to enjoy the arboretum in its entirety, including many of the new trails and paths so often missed by visitors.

The 3 km route, aimed at both runners and walkers, offers an easier, more accessible option, heading down the main path, towards the dam at the far end of the reservoir and back again. Entrants will pass a host of specimen trees including an endangered swamp cypress, an iconic Japanese cedar and a variety of spectacularly autumnal maples.

All finishers will receive a custom-made Jersey Trees for Life wooden medal while race winners will have the satisfaction of seeing their name on a specimen tree for a year. All event income will go towards creating a greener future for Jersey.  

Parking will be available at the former Amaizin! Adventure Park site opposite the main entrance and the arboretum will be closed from 7.30am to 1.00pm on the day.
