Over 100 children enjoy nature at Autumn Adventure

On Saturday 3 October we were at St Saviour’s Woodland for Autumn Adventure, the second of Jersey Trees for Life’s biannual nature-themed children’s events. As well as being a lot of fun and having a strong educational element, these events are a perfect opportunity for kids to engage directly with nature, which in turn is excellent for physical and mental health.
Autumn Adventure was already set to be our most popular event of its type to date and after a glut of morning sign-ups 130 kids were set to attend across the two 90-minute sessions.
Once again the weather was good to us and everything ran smoothly as the little ones enthusiastically set about the various activities comprising bug hotel and den building, seed potting, coaster art, a tree quiz and a scavenger hunt.
Children were also encouraged to wear fancy dress – a guaranteed recipe for creativity, fun and great outfits. This was exemplified by the attendance of the likes of Harry Potter, an angel, a dragon, two Spidermen and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
To cap it all off, we raised around £750 that’ll go towards creating a greener future for our island.
A big thank you to everybody who contributed to the day’s success, including children, parents and guardians, volunteers and parish authorities.
A special mention too for the prize donors, namely Co-Op,Sandpiper and Paperclix, for providing vouchers, sweets, chocolate, games, bubbles, stickers and colouring books.
We’ll be back at St Saviour’s Woodland in spring for our Spring Adventure – and look forward to seeing even more of you then.
